History

The Private Limited Company known as GESCO Corporation Limited was established on March 16, 1999. The enterprise was incorporated as a public limited company on August 18, 1999. In April 1999, GESCO, the original real estate division of Great Eastern Shipping, became a separate business. Following the dissolution of MRIDL's real estate and infrastructure divisions, GESCO Corporation and Mahindra Realty & Infrastructure Developers Ltd. (MRIDL) merged to create GESCO in 2001. In 2007, Mahindra GESCO Developers Limited changed its name to Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (MLDL).

Mahindra World City in Chennai was created in collaboration between the Mahindra Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation is the nation's first privately owned business to operate a Special Economic Zone.
